February 2005 Update

 

Since the December 2004 update, we have been working on the tasks described below: 

 

 

Concept Plan & Proposed Access

 

Concept plans showing proposed access control along the corridor was presented at the Task Force Meeting.  The following segments were presented:

 

·                    Jones Loop Road

·                    Burnt Store Road – Charlotte County

·                    Tuckers Grade Extension

·                    Burnt Store Road – Lee County

Environmental Screening

 

An environmental screening of the corridor segments above was performed.  The screening identified any potential impacts along the corridor.  Further investigation will be needed prior to design and construction.  The features evaluated were as follows:

 

·                    Cultural

·                    Archeological & Historical

·                    Wetland

·                 Wildlife & Habitat

·          Potential Contamination

Ongoing Work Effortmeeting_pic


We are continuing our development of conceptual designs plans for the Veterans Parkway and Colonial Boulevard corridors.  An evaluation is being performed for these recommended roadway improvements.  Tasks included in this effort are listed below.

 

·        Development of access and circulation options at intersections and overpasses/interchanges

·        Environmental screening including cultural, archeological & historical, wetland, wildlife & habitat, and potential contamination

·        Right-of-way needs and cost estimates

      ·    Construction costs estimates
